SYDNEY INVESTIGATIONS Received March 3, 11.5 p.m. SYDNEY, March 3. Detectives here investigating the Gordon McKay mystery have ascertained that the insurance policies in Australia on McKay’s life were recently substantially increased. The policies are spread over several companies, the largest being £26,000 in the Mutual Life and Citizens' Com-
pany. McKay’s son, who lives at Burwood suburb, declared in an interview loday that the family was greatly distressed by the exhumation carried out by the New Zealand police and the attendant publicity given to lhe case. He added: "Our fervent hope is that father is still alive." The Sun newspaper reports a prosecution in the Police Court to-day of a medical practitioner who was charged wilh having driven a car while intoxicated. His solicitor informed the Court that the doctor had been interviewed by the police concerning "a man who was burned to death in New Zealand.” and he might have to go to New Zealand to' give evidence. The magistrate, with the consent of the police, granted an adjournment until March 31.
