OTAGO COLLAPSES
CRICKET AT DUNEDIN SIR JULIEN CAHN’S TOUR ( Per Press Association.] DUNEDIN, March 3. Conditions for cricket could not have been better than those enjoyed by Sir Julien Cahn’s team on lhe first day to-day, of its match against Otago. Carisbrook Park was looking at its best and the wicket, although damp when play was started, was worthy of the reputation earned by Dunedin’s main ground in this respect.
The cricket was always interesting although it had its disappointing aspects. The Otago and New Zetiland captain, D. A. R. Moloney, won the toss and the home side had first use □f the wicket. It was disappointing that after a confident a-nd useful start the side should collapse and be all out for .184 runs, but credit must be given to the visiting bowlers and fieldsmen for the fine display after lunch. The last Otago wicket fell just before the tea adjournment and at “stumps” Sir Julien Cahn’s team had scored 105 runs for three wickets. If the circumstances are as favourable to-morrow there should be a big crowd to see some excellent cricket. Scores were: Otago. First Ironings. A. Knight, st Maxwell, b Watts . 53 K. F. M.
