WEDDINGS
BENEFIELD—LAN DLR \ There was a very pretty wedding at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Wanganui, recently, the bride being Margaret Helena, daughter of Mr. John Lander and the late Mrs. Lander, Wanganui, and the bridegroom Richard Thomas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Benefield, Wanganui East. The Rev. Father Outtrim officiated and celebrated Nuptial Mass. The bride’s lovely frock of magnolia embossed taffeta had a square neckline of ruched georgette outlined with seed pearls with the cuffs of the long sleeves to match. A true-lover’s knot of ruched georgette was appliqued on the end of the train. The embroidered tulle veil was arranged to the head with a circlet of orange blossom buds, and she carried a bouquet of cream gladioli, carnations and roses. Mr. Lander escorted his daughter to the altar. Charming frocks of pale green organza over taffeta with ruched sleeves and full flared skirts, and haloes of green velvet flowers and silver leaves, were worn by the bridesmaids, Miss Barbara Charlton and Miss Lilian Dick, of Wellington. Each carried a bouquet of green hydrangeas, pink sweet peas, clarkia and carnations. Mr. J. Gordon was best man and Mr. V. Benefield was groomsman. A number of relatives and intimate friends were entertained after the ceremony. The bride's aunt, Mrs. Kavanagh and the bridegroom’s mother, Mrs. Benefield, received the guests, the former wearing a black ensemble and large black hat and the latter attired in a black floral frock and black hat.
