Sir Andrew McCulloch, of Scotland, and Lady McCulloch were visitors to Wanganui on Saturday and were guests at Foster’s Hotel. Mr. and Mrs. S. P. Warburton were English visitors to Wanganui during the week-end and were guests at Foster’s Hotel. Mr. J. Griffiths, of the Bank of New Zealand, has received notice of his transfer to Tokomaru Bay, and leaves next week. Mr. H. G. Robertshaw, of Feiiding, was a visitor to Wanganui during the week-end. Mr. Robertshaw was formerly a well-known oarsman in Wanganui. Mr. G. Benson, president of the West Coast (N. 1. Centre of the N.Z.A.A.A., and Mr. A. C. Bourgeois, president of the Wanganui Athletic and Cycling Club, were week-end visitors to Wellington. Mr. R. V. Brown, of Wellington, who has been appointed manager of the Wanganui branch of the N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., was welcomed at a meeting of stock and station agents last week. Mr. A. A. Willis, a vice-president of the Wanganui East Bowling Club, who is shortly leaving for Taradale, was farewelled by members during the afternoon tea adjournment on Saturday. Mr. A. W. Jones, president of the club, said that Mr. Willis was one of the foundation members and had always taken a keen interest in the affairs of the club. Mr. Willis had resided in Wanganui all his life and had given good service as a citizen. Mr. A. Bowling also added his tribute. Mr. Willis was accorded musical honours-. Mr. J. D. Anderson, who recently retired from the position of manager of the Wanganui branch of the N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., was farewelled by members of the Manawatu and West Coast Livestock Auctioneers’ Association and the Wanganui Woolbrokers’ Association and presented with a cheque from the two associations. The following also joined in paying a tribute to Mr. Anderson's worth: Messrs. W. H. Hall and W. E. Robbie (Dalgety and Co., Ltd.), W. C. Fowler and J. Goldstone (N.Z. Farmers’ Co-operative Distributing Co., Ltd.), S. R. Thomson (Abraham and Williams, Ltd.), F. 11. Bethwaite (Levin & Co., Ltd.), S. J. Sievers (Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd.). I. Davidson (Murray Roberts and Co., Ltd.), and K. Kirk and R. Brown (N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd.).
