NORTH ISLAND TITLES HANDICAPS COMMENCE I Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Jan. 5. The North Island croquet championship tournament is in progress. The greens are in perfect condition. There are ten entries for the open championship and 31 for the women’s championship. Handicap contests have begun. Championship games start early next week. The South Island croquet championship tournament was opened in fine, but overcast weather by the Mayor, Dr. T. M. Miller. Entries for handicaps and championships are very satisfactory. The championship events are expected to start on Saturday. There are five entries for the open, 13 for the women’s, and 16 for the doubles.
