LATEST LONDON REPORT During the last few weeks there has been a small but steady rise in the price of New Zealand salted butter in London from 103 s to 104 s a cwt. —the lowest point of last year, which was touched oat November 25. The latest quotation of 115 s represents a rise of 3s a cwt. since December 30. The London equivalent of the New Zealand guaranteed price is 124 s 3d a cwt. According to the cabled report supplied by the Primary Products Marketing Department to the Dairy Board, the London butter market was firm last week. Friday's closing quotations, with those of the previous week in parentheses, were as follow: New Zealand, salted, 112 s (Ills; a year ago, Ills to 112 s); unsalted, 116 s (—; a year ago, 113 s to 114 s). Australian, salted, 110 s (108 s unsalted, 112 s to 113 s (Ills). Argentine, unsalted, 102 s to 106 s, ex. 107 s (98s to 106 s). Danish, 123 s f.0.b.; 144 s to 145 s spot (1235; 144 s to 1455). Dutch, unsalted, 125 s (1265). Lithuanian, unsalted, 114 s (112 s to 113 s). Retail prices were unchanged, New Zealand at Is 2d and Danish at Is 5d a lb. Deliveries of New Zealand butter from store last week were 455 tons, as against 1028 tons for the previous week. The quantity in store on Friday, including 61 tons ex Rangitiki, was 1829 tons, as against 2223 tons a week previously, and 2112 tons a year] ago. Deliveries of Australian butter last week were 2072 tons, as against 2440 tons the previous week. The quantity in store on Friday was 5170 tons, compared with 1408 tons a year ago. The cheese market was quiet last week. Friday’s closing quotations, with those of the previous week in parentheses, were as follow: New Zealand, white, 69s (69s 6d to 70s; a year ago, 64s to 64s 6d); coloured, 69s (69s 6d to 70s; a year ago. 64s 6d to 655). Australian, white, 62s to 65s (64s to 655); coloured, 63s to 66s (64s to 665). Canadian, white, 71s to 72s (71s to 725); coloured, 71s to 73s (71s to 735); old season’s, white, 80s (80s). English, finest farmers’. 86s to 96s (86s to 965); English factory cheese, 63s (645). Deliveries of New Zealand cheese last week were 2401 crates, as against 6981 crates for the previous week. The quantity in store on Friday, including 9520 crates ex Mataroa. Rangitiki and Mahia, was 20,242 crates, as against 40,283 crates a year ago. Deliveries of Canadian cheese last week were 2817 boxes, compared with 4459 boxes for the previous week. The quantity in store last Friday was 156,747 boxes, compared with 142,765 boxes a year ago.
