FRANCE AND IRAN SEVERANCE OF RELATIONS. Received Jan. 2, 10 p.m. LONDON, Dec. 30. The Paris correspondent of The Times says the severance of FrancoIranian relations was due to French newspapers using the phrases "His Majesty the Cat,” and "When the Cat is King” in describing a cat show. Owing to the identical sound of the French words for “Shar” and "cat” the Shar took offence where none was intended.
