Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Beauchamp and family, Glasgow Street, will go to their residence, at Tauranga, after Christmas. Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Hussey, St. John’s Hill, accompanied by the latter’s sister, Miss F. Paul, have left for Rotorua. Mr. and Mrs. S. Smith, Wellington, are visitors to Wanganui for the Downeak—Kjoss wedding. * * * * Mrs. J. B. Aitchison, of No. 2 Line, accompanied by her daughter, Miss Jean Aitchison, left yesterday for a holiday in the South Island. Mrs. W. Cook leaves to-day on a motor tour of the North Island, embracing Napier, Gisborne, Wairakei, Taupo, Rotorua and Auckland. * * * * Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Curtayne, Dannevirke, are the guests of Mrs. N. P. Svenson, Gonville, for the Wilson— Svenson wedding. Mr. and Mrs. R. Lawrence and family, of Makirikiri, are spending the Christmas holidays at their cottage, at Lake Taupo. Miss Jessie Coombe left Wanganui by car on Thursday morning, to spend two weeks’ holiday with friends ■ at Whakatane. Miss Doris Hodges, of the nursing staff, Napier Hospital, returned yesterday after having spent her annual vacation at Wellington and Wanganui. Mr. F. W. Gilligan, headmaster of the Collegiate School, Mrs. Gilligan j and family leave next week for [Taupo, where they will spend the school vacation. The Misses Cummins, Castlecliff, and the Misses D. and I. Soeburg, left last night by car for Pahiatua and Napier, en route to Waikaremoana. Mr. and Mrs. R. O. C. Marks, Liverpool Street Extension, left yesterday to spend the holidays in Taranaki. * * * * Mrs. L. J. B. Chapple, Technical College House, with her two children, left early in the week to spend the school holidays with her mother, Mrs. Gill, at Christchurch. Mrs. Leatham Rutherfurd, of Hawera, who has been in Wanganui for the past two weeks, will leave on Monday, for Rotorua* Miss Eileen Newton, St. John's Hill, accompanied by her brother, left on Thursday for Christchurch, and later will visit the Hermitage. Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Glenn, Victoria Avenue, were host and hostess at a most enjoyable Christmas party this week, when they entertained a large number of friends. * * * * Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Downes, are Dunedin visitors to Wanganui, for the wedding of their son, Mr. S. H. Downes, to Miss Dorothy Kjoss, which takes place next week. Mr. and Mrs. John Montgomerie are Wellington visitors to Wanganui, and are staying with Mrs. Montgomerie’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Sullivan, Campbell Street. Miss L. Ellison has relinquished her position on the staff of the D.I.C. to take up a nursing career, and will leave Wanganui early in the New Year, for Wellington.
