CANCER TREATMENT
USE OF “HEAVY WATER” Received Dec. 5, 6.30 p.m. LONDON, Dec. 5. The Daily Herald says that Dr. G. A. Stephens and Mr. M. W. Williams, of Swansea, using subcutaneous injections of “heavy water,” enabled a patient suffering from cancer of the tongue, upon which an operation could not be performed, to eat and speak, which was impossible last month. American scientists discovered heavy water in 1933 in ordinary water in proportions to one to six thousand. It is producible by passing electricity through water and is obtainable in Norway owing to the extent of electric plants and waterfalls there.
