Westmere Women’s Institute drama circle concluded its activities for the year on Tuesday, October 4, when a drama concert, with supporting music, was held in Westmere Hall.
A large and appreciative audience enjoyed the programme, which included, “Michael,” the winning play of the inter-Bible Class competitions, produced by Miss E. Smith, and including in the cast Miss Jean and Mr. Hudson Norrie, Misses Thelma Taylor, Dorothy and Caroline Smith, Rae Preston and Mi. Harold Smith.
Westmere Institute staged “Mirror to Elizabeth,” a one-act play produced by Mr. J. Currie. This charming production, with delightful frocking, was played by Mrs. D. Preston and the Misses Bessie Dawes, Jean Campbell, Anne Carwardine, Most Burns, Grace Brownlie, Pnyllis Bayling and June Bartlett.
The Reperotry Dramatic Club, assisted with the programme and staged “A Marrying Man,” the players being Mrs. Armitage; Misses Rogers and Wilcocks and Messrs. Piper and Nolan.
A most enjoyable programme of orchestral music was supplied by Mesdames Smith and Lambert and Misses Missen and E. Smith.
Supper and a dance concluded a very successful evening.
