AWAHURI ROAD IMI'ROVEMENTS At Tuesday's meeting of the Manawatu County Council, Or. D. W. Reid asked whether it was the duty of the council to notify property-owners affetced that the work of reconstructing Awahuri Road had commenced. He reminded the council that a number of property-owners were concerned in the work as the council was taking certain areas of land for roading purposes and he felt that the owners should have some official instruction that the work was now under way. Cr. W. E. Pearce supported the 1 previous speaker, stating that the council did not desire a repetition of the criticism levelled at it over the | work on the Ohakea aerodrome. In j this case, he stated, a fence had been I interfered with without reference to I the property-owner and this had given rise to a complaint. The chairman, Cr. W. E. Barber, said that the council would see that there was no occasion for any criticism of the council in regard to the Awahuri road work. The 'engineer would see that proper steps were taken before property was entered upon to notify the owners concerned.
