KNOX PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH THE ANNUAL MEETING HELD At the annual meeting of the Knox Church on Wednesday, the Rev. H. B. Burnett, who presided, said that the membership had increased largely because of the number of young people who had joined at Manutahl. He congratulated the congregation on the amount subscribed towards missions which far exceeded their allocation of £25, a sum of £7l being collected. He thought the amount subscribed to missions showed it was a healthy congregation spiritually. The Bible classes were to be congratulated for subscribing £35. The jubilee receipts were very gratifying. iss Masters submitted the P.W.M.U. report, Mrs. J. R. Hunger the guild report, Mr. E. Sutherland the Bible classes, and Mr. W. Watt the Manutahi Bible class. Rev. Burnett stated that Sunday school attendances had been fairly good, but the bad weather had its effect. He paid tribute to Miss Masters, who had taken over the junior department and it was largely due to her influence the children were so keen to attend; to Mrs. Harken and Miss Cowie, who assisted in higher classes. He thanked them all for their sacrifice. He made reference to Mrs. H. A. Sutherland's twentylive years’ service as a teacher at Alton, extending congratulations to her. Messrs. F. Naismith, G. Marshall, and F. Anderson were elected to the managers; Mr. W. 1-1. Southcombe was re-elected auditor. Mr. J. A. Haswell notified his intention of resigning as secretary and treasurer, which positions he has held for the past ten years. Rev. Burnett and other members paid great tribute to him for his work and was asked to carry on until the new minister arrived.
