GIRLS' EDUCATIONAL WEEK HELD AT PALMERSTON NORTH No less than 79 country girls visited Palmerston North for the Girls' Educational Week held under the auspices of the W.D.F.U. The programme was officially opened by the Mayor (Mr A. E. Mansford) at the Technical School Assembly Hall. Amongst the branches represented were the following: Taihape, Utiku, Mangaweka, Koeke, Hunterville, Pukeroa. The object of the movement is to give country girls an opportunity of gaining an insgiht into educational subjects necessary and helpful to them in their life. A comprehensive programme was arranged for the occasion, including lectures on the following subjects: Miss Beth Parkes, on dancing; Miss Vautier, on dressmaking; Professor Peren, on college girls’ life in China, Mr Low and Mr Kissling, on poultry; Mr E. Beatson, on pasteurisation ot milk; Mrs Linda Bennett, on dramatic work; Miss Vautier, on foods and demonstration on cooking; esplanade lecture on vegetable and flower gardening; talk on art, Mr L. J. Wilde; talk on travels, Mr L. J. Wilde; beauty culture, Miss Kirk; Plunkct lecture. Miss Kearns; talk on books, Mr G. T. Alley. The visit to Feilding proved most interesting and instructive, various places of interest being visited en route. The Girls’ Educational Week was brought to a successful conclusion with an enjoyable dance.
