WEATHER FORECAST
Meteorological Office, Wellington, Wednesday, May 25, 3 p.m. General Situation.—A shallow depression has crossed the South Island but is being followed by a slight secondary. An intense anticyclone covers the Tasman. Forecast.—Winds: Light to moderate northerlies or north-wester-lies at first in Cook Strait and on the east coast from Canterbury northwards, otherwise west to south-west prevailing. South-westerlies or southerlies gradually becoming general, however, and freshening. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rather rough to rough about Foveaux Strait, elsewhere slight to moderate but later rising north of Farewell Spit and south of Castlepoint. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light to moderate south-west to southerly winds and slight to moderate seas. Weather: Mainly fair to cloudy but changeable and with occasional but mainly light rain at many places. Temperatures rather cooler. Time of sunset to-day, 4.37 p.m. Time of sunrise to-morrow, 7.02 a.m. Phases of the Moon for May.—First Quarter, May 7; Full Moon, May 14; Last Quarter, May 23; New Moon May 30.
