TIN HAT CLUB GATHERING
SYDNEY CONTINGENT IN FORM THE RECENT TRIP TOLD ALL OVER AGAIN Members of the Wanganui Tin Hat Club were entertained ’last night by those "Diggers” who visited Sydney for the recent Anzac Day Memorial celebrations. A feature of the evening was the showing of a cinematograph film by Mr. Frank Beil. Those who actually took part in the trip enjoyed looking back on the familiar scenes. , j Mr. A. J. Pritchard handed the chairmanship of the gathering over to Mr. A. W. Larsen, who acted as leader of the contingent members. Each member of the party had to take the floor and give a recital of what had happened to him during the visit. The tales were many and varied, and it was noticeable that a distinct line of demarkation existed between those who sailed aboard the "plain old Monowai” and "our flagship, the Maunganui.” During the evening a tribute was paid to Mr. C. S. Brown, who composed the words of a song which was sung by the contingent on arrival and i the words of aruother sung on departure. These numbers were sung to the gathering—" Yes, we’ve come here from good old New Zealand; Far, far we have come to see you. The Kiwi has flown o'er the ocean, to visit his friend Kangaroo.” It was decided to write and thank the New Zealand R.S.A. for the excellent manner in which the trip had been arranged. A proposal to hold a ladies' night in the near future and invite Mr. Bell to show his film again met with unanimous approval.
