HOTEL EVACUATED
UNEMPLOYED DEMONSTRATORS Received May 24, 5.5«p.m. VANCOUVER, May 23. Paid 500 dollars from the city the transient unemployed demonstrators evacuated the Hotel Georgia to-day. They still occupy part of the PostOffice and the Art Gallery, refusing to disperse and return to their homes. A report yesterday stated that resisting Dominion and provincial Government orders that they were not eligible for relief aid unless they returned to their homes in other parts of Canada. 1500 single men without jobs invaded the Post Office, the Art Gallery, and one of the leading hotels. They slept on the floors and had food brought to them by sympathisers. The men in the Post Office refused to leave after a Government warning against interference with the mails. Workers were not nolested. Ejection by the police was stayed by owners, who feared heavy consequent property damage.
