PLAZA THEATRE

"PARADISE FOR TWO" One of the most brilliant musical comedies produced by United Artists is to continue screening to-day at the Plaza Theatre. Entitled “Paradise for Two.” it has as its loading players the popular English actor Jack Hulbert, with his inimitable humour, dancing and singing, and the beautiful Hollywood actress, Patricia Ellis. The setting of the picture is Paris, with Jacques Thilbaud (Arthur Riscoe) struggling to produce a new revue without sufficient money and with the responsibility ot staving off creditors. One of his chorus girls, Jeanette Dupont (Patricia Ellis), while on the way to a rehearsal, hails a taxi but gets thoroughly splashed by la passing car. The driver, who is the [chauffeur to a millionaire, Rene Martin (Jack Hulbert), offers her a lirt, but on his way to the theatre the car collides with a taxi, and the girl arrives late for the rehearsal. Rebuked by Thibaud, she leaves her position, but gossips who recognise the car she has been riding in assume that she is the protege of the millionaire, the story eventually reaching Thibaud, who at once rc-engagcs her as the leading lady of his revue. In the meantime, Martin, who has been receiving bills from various sources, takes slops to discover the mystery. He calls on Jeanette and is mistaken by her for a reporter, but he is amused by the error and does nothing to correct it. She, asked by her employer to use her influence to obtain funds for the show, finds herself in a quandary and begs Martin to “impersonate” the millionaire. From this complicated situation there is any amount of opportunities for excellent comedy. Among the outstanding features of the production are four songs specially composed for the film. 'Die first of these is the theme song. “Paradise for Two,” sung by Miss Ellis and Hulbert. The others are “Kiss Me Good-night,” “When You Hear Music” and “March in Springtime.”
