Alleging that one of their number had been victimised by dismissal, the drivers employed by a bakery firm at Mount Eden struck this morning. | Although a full quantity of bread was baked last night no delivery was made this morning and the men are picketing the factory to prevent delivery in case vehicles are supplied by other firms. A conference between the principal of the firm concerned with the secretary of the Employers’ Association, secretary of the Auckland Drivers’ Union, and representatives of the men. proved abortive. The Minister of Labour (Hon. H. T. Armstrong) was communicated with by telephone to Wellington and he promised to look into the matter.
