RICCARTON MEETING

GRAND NATIONAL STAKES For its Grand National meeting this year the Canterbury Jockey Club has increased its stakes over the three days from £lO,OOO to £10,675. The stake for the Grand National Steeplechase has been increased to £l5OO and that for the Winter Cup to £750, but the Grand National Hurdles prize remains at £1025. The value of the New Zealand Derby Stakes, entries tor which have closed, has been raised from £1250 to £l5OO, thus bringing it back to the level prior to 1932.
