RANGITIKEI GOLF CLUB A stroke competition was played o» Saturday, the best cards handed in being as follow: — R. Field 103 -36 -67 J. G. Mitchell 94—24 —7O R. F. Scott 82—10—72 BASKETBALL A match will be played at Glen Oroua to-day between Bulls and Glen Oroua Clubs. The Bulls team, which will leave home at 1 p.m., wil be as follows: V. Botcher, V. McCabe, M. Webber, E. Mullins, R. Christian, J. Adin, Mrs R. Young, Z. Neale and Mrs Jeffries. BULLS WOMEN’S INSTITUTE The monthly meeting of the Bulls Women’s Institute was held on May 9, the president, Mrs Huddleston, presiding over a large attendance of members. One new member was welcomed. Invitations were received to attend Marton and Kopane Institute birthdays. Mrs Stewart reported on proceedings at the North Wellington Conference. It was reported also that ■ a beautiful floral emblem was made by one ot the institute members for ■ Anzae Day. Results of competitions were as fol- ’ low: Best article from a yard of crc- : tonne: Mrs Button 1, Mias Richards ■ 2; specimen bloom, Mrs Homes 1, Mrs - Ross 2. Next month's competitions ) will be (1) puff pastry apple turn- ) overs, 3 small; (2) Scotch shortbread; and (3) specimen bloom. Hostesses ■ for next month will be Mesdames J. • Ellery (chief), H. Wicks, Smith. Thorby, T. H. Green, Jurgens, Healey I and Goebel. In conjunction with the institute • the Wanganui Electric-Power Board ■ gave a demonstration of cooking by ■ electricity, this being in the capable ) hands of Mrs Barrington, whose many useful and economy hints were appreciated by all. At the conclusion a hearty vote of thanks v/es accorded to Mrs Barrington. RANGITIKEI LADIES’ GOLF CLI B Members will play a bogey match to-morrow, play commencing at the fifth tee.
