QUEEN CARNIVAL CENTRAL QUEEN IN LEAD Keen interest Is being evinced !r. the various activities arranged by the committee for each queen for the carnival at present being conducted in Sandon to raise funds for effecting improvements to the local Town Hall. Every function has been very well attended and a good sum has already been received by the general secretary, Mr S. L. Kent. At present the Central Queen, Mi>s Jean Butler, is in the leading position, while second place is held by Miss Francis Anderson, Ihe Western representative, who is followed very closely by the Eastern Queen, Miss Ruth Henson. It is understood a fairly large sum is being withheld by each committee. This week’s events include a childrens fancy dress party on Friday night at Sanson. This function will be followed by a dance for adults. On Saturday night at the local Town Hall the Table Tennis Club are holdling a card evening, and those who wish to play table tennis may do to. Four very fine tables are provided, and a pleasant, evening is assured ai» who attend. Both functions are for the Central Queen. A card evening is to be held tonight at the residence of the Missed I Bailey, Ohakea, for the Western Queen. The programme of events drawn up for the whole month is a lengthy on< i and should provide many a pleasar I evening.
