FURTHER NOMINATIONS

ONE BALLOT NEEDED IN WAITOTARA

Nominations of condidatcs for seats on the Waitotara County Council for the ensuing term of three years closed at noon yesterday. Sitting councillors were returned unopposed in all ridings, but Brunswick-Westmere, where three of the four now vacating office are seeking re-election in a field of seven.

Mr A. R. Richardson has retired in the Brunswick-Westmere Riding, and Messrs R. Farley, R. Laird, and A. A. Winwood, all sitting councillors, have nominated again. Four new nominations have been received—Messrs W. D. Carson, W. G. Davison, G. H. Handley and G. Palmer. The poll will be taken on May 11. Mr H. Titter (Mosston). L. T. Jones (Tookmaru), and W. Morrison,. T. Alexander, and F. Handley (Waitotara) have all been returned unopposed. County Representation County representatives on other local bodies—Harbour, Hospital and Power Board—have been returned unopposed, Mr R. Farley on the Wanganui Hospital Board, Mr W. Morrison on the Wanganui-Rangitikei Electric Power Board, and Messrs W. Morrison and R. Farley on the Wanganui Harbour Board.

Electors to be Addressed.

Arrangements have been made for the seven candidates contesting the four seats in the Westmere-Brunswick Riding to address the electors in the Westmere Hall on Monday night. The chair will be taken at 7.30 p.m.

RAETIHI BOROUGH

ELECTION FOR MAYOR AND COUNCIL (Our Own Correspondent.) RAETIHI, April 29. An election will be necessary to find the Mayor and Borough Council at Raetihi for the ensuing term of three years. The sitting Mayor (Dr. W. J. Feltham' is being opposed by Mr. L. F. Baird.

The following 12 nominations have been received for nine seats on the Borough Council (an asterisk denoting sitting member): Messrs. J. M. K. Arroll, J. R. Ciochetto*, R. B. Davis, A. G. Dobson*, H. J. Donnelly, O. M. Friedlander, W. Harnett, A. M. Laing*, J. E. Rule, T. Shout*. R. Sigley, F. B. Soar, J. H. Stanley*, A. E. Urwin, L. J. Vile.

The following councillors did not seek re-election: Messrs. W. H. Sandford, C. F. Goodman, C. D. Lynch, and R. L. Lee. Messrs. Vile and Sigley, two of the nominees, were members of previous councils.

MANGAWEKA TOWN BOARD (From Our Own Correspondent). MANGAWEKA, April 28. Nominations of commissioners for the Mangaweka Town Board closed to-day. The sitting members nominated are: Messrs A. Millner, G. G. Toms, L. A. Bailey, C. Oulsnam and C. Travis, and the new candidate is Mr G. Salt. An election takes place on May 11.

MARTON BOROUGH COUNCIL

In another column Mr C. C. McDonald, returning officer, notifies the election of Mr F. Purnell as borough representative on the Wanganui-Ran-gitikei Electric Power Board; Mr T. C. Kincaid, as representative on the Wanganui Hospital and Charitable Aid Board; Mr F. Purnell, as Mayor of Marton, and Messrs G. B. Gregory, A. Mclndoe, K. A. Williams, T. Barton, A. J. B. Sicely, W. J. Mogridge, W. B. Winchcombe and J. R. Howard, as members of the Marton Borough Council.

Awarua Riding.—J. H. T. Duncan and V. Smith. Ruanui Riding.—L. E. Deacon and J. McHardy. Four representatives on the Wanganui Hospital and Chritable Aid Board.—A. S. Coleman, D. G. Gordon, A. J. B. Sicely and D. D. Simpson. Three representatives on the Wan-ganui-Rangitikei Electric Power Board.—-K. W. Dalrymple, R. G. Dalziell and P. Munro. There will be an election in the Otakapu, Otairi, Te Kapua, Awarua, and Ruanui Ridings, which will take place on Wednesday, May 11.

PATEA HARBOUR BOARD HAWERA REPESENTATIVES Mr L. H. Chapman was re-elected the Hawera Borough representative on the Patea Harbour Board, and Mr G. Meuli re-elected Hawera County representative.

POLL IN ONE RIDING (From Our Own Correspondent). PATEA, April 29. A poll will be necessary in one rid ing of the Patea County, that /

which the present chairman is one of the representatives—Moumahaki. The following have been nominated to represent the respective ridings:— Kapara Riding (one vacancy).— Frank Kenneth Pearce.

Moumahaki Riding (two vacancies). —William George Belton, Douglas Christopher Jarvis, John Lupton.

Otoai Riding (four vacancies).— William Back, Albert James Gibbs, Daniel Hurley, junr., Robert James Watt.

Waverley Riding (two vacancies). — Colin Kerr Campbell, William Henry Watkins. Patea Harbour Board. Mr Alfred Pearce was elected unopposed for the Patea County (Otoia subdivision) on the Patea Harbour Board, and William Henry Watkins for the Waverley subdivision of the Patea County. South Taranaki Power Board Messrs Daniel Hurley, junr., and Frank Parsons were elected unopposed as Patea County representatives on the South Taranaki Power Board. Patea Hospital Board The following have been elected for the Patea County on the Patea Hospital Board: —Messrs William Back, Colin Kerr Campbell, Albert James Gibbs, Cecil Reginald Honeyfield, John Lupton, William Henry Watkins, and Robert James Watt.

TAIHAPE BOROUGH

SITTING MAYOR UNOPPOSED. COUNCIL ELECTION NECESSARY. (Our Own Correspondent.) TAIHAPE, April 29. Nominations for the Mayoralty, Borough Council and Wanganui-Ran-gitikei Electric Power Board closed at noon to-day. The sitting Mayor (Mr. L. B. H. de Lautour) has been reelected unopposed, .but there are eight nominations for the seven seats on the Borough Council and an election will thus be necessary. The following nominations have been received for the council, sitting members being denoted by an asterisk:—Messrs. Henry J. Bowater*, Hugh Galbraith, Patrick Kearins*, Ernest Loader*, Sydney Harry Mason, Charles Allen McLaren, Ellis Robinson*, Alfred Mervyn Ryan*. Two members of the present council, Crs. G. A. Wilsher and G. N. MacDiarmid, did not seek re-election. Rangitikei Power Board. Mr. A. M. Ryan has been re-elected unopposed as a member of the Wan-ganui-Rangitikei Power Board. BOROUGH OF PATEA MR. E. F. HEMINGWAY MAYOR ELECTION TO FIND COUNCIL (Our Own Correspondent.) PATEA, April 29. Mr. E. F. Hemingway has been elected unopposed as Mayor of Patea, succeeding Mr. F. Ramsbottom, who did not seek re-election. There will be an election to find the new council, 10 nominations being received to fill six seats:—Messrs. R. J. L. Bromiley, Harold Clerkc, G. W. Corbett, J. W. Feild, S. R. Fuller-Sandys, R. W. Haddow, A. H. Langslow, F. S. McKenna, F. Naismith and F. Ramsbottom. Messrs. Ramsbottom (present Mayor), Bromiley, R. W. Haddow, A. H. Langslow, F. S. McKenna, F. Naismith are sitting members of the council.

Borough Nominee on Harbour Board. Messrs. A. N. Williams and W. Back have been nominated as the Patea Borough Representative on the Patea Harbour Board. Patea Hospital Board. Mr. Hugh Middleton has been reelected as Waverley Town Board representative on the Patea Hospital Board. Mrs. A. G. M. Carey, has been elected unopposed to the Patea Hospital Board as Patea Borough representative.
