FORDELL CLUB

GENERAL MEETING HELD

A general meeting of the Fordcii Golf Club was held in the public hall on Thursday night, when the following members were present: Messrs. G. W. Bousfleld (chairman), E. Nind (secretary), F. Rockel (treasurer), K. Aiken, R. Sutherland, B. C. Annand, A. Sutherland, L. Cavenagh, J. Howie. B. Higgle, T. Lyons, Mesdames R. Sutherland, McLean, K. Aiken, Morgan, Annand, Cavanagh, Bousfleld, and Miss Facer.

The meeting was called for the purpose of discussing the proposeu erection of a club-house. After a lengthy discussion, when plans and specifications were dealt with, a building committee, comprised ol Messrs. Annand, R. Sutherland and Bousfleld, was appointed to deal with the matter and it is anticipated that a suitable building will be erected at an early date.

It was decided to hold a meeting of lady members to-day at the links, when a committee will be elected and arrangements made for matches.

CASTLECLIFF CLUB FIRST QUALIFYING ROUND COMMENCEMENT TO-DAY. The first qualifying round of the Castlecliff Golf Club’s championships will be played to-day. The early players will tee off in pairs bu the “main body” will play in three to avoid congestion and enable all players to conclude their rounds before dark.

(Owing to pressure on space this morning it is not possible to publish the draw, which will be posted at the clubhouse).

OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP

VENUE OF TOURNAMENT DEAL COURSE UNFIT F R PLAY Received April 29, 10.20 p.m. LONDON, April 29. The Royal and Ancient Golf Club announces that, owing to inundation by the sea in February and the subsequent drought, the Deal golf course will be unfit for play in the open championship, beginning on July 4. Arrangements are being made to hold the championship elsewhere, probably at Sandwich.
