THAT BLACK LACE FROCK

HOW TO RENOVATE IT.

A black lace frock that has lost its first freshness may be improved by the following treatment. Fill with warm water a bowl large enough to hold the frock easily. Add to the warm water a dessertspoonful of black ink, and stir in a dessertspoonful of gum arabic dissolved in a little water. Let the frock soak well in the bowl for a while, and then pour off the water. Squeeze the frock as dry as possible by pressing it against the bottom of the bowl with a large plate. Then spread it out carefully on several thicknesses of clean newspaper. Lay more paper over it and roll it up, taking care not to stretch it out of shape. When it is nearly dry, cover it with a piece of old muslin or calico and press it on the wrong side with a warm iron.
