Dr. Walter Hellenthal, Consul for Germany, Frau Hellenthal, and their children will leave for their homeland by the cruise liner Reliance, which sails from Wellington to-morrow.

Mrs. T. Hine, Victoria Avenue, who has been visiting Dunedin, returned to the North Island to spend Easter in Wellington with her daughter, Mrs. Morton Jones, before returning to Wanganui.

Mrs. C. R. White, Upper Aramoho, and her daughter, Miss Linda White, 'left on Thursday for Wellington to attend the Fahey—Pearce wedding. Miss White will act as bridesmaid to her cousin, Miss Marjorie Pearce. • • * • Mrs. Empson, of Havelock North, widow of a former headmaster of tne Collegiate School, who is visiting Wanganui for the school celebrations and the Empson dedication ceremony, is the guest of the headmaster of the Collegiate School, Mr. F. W. Gilligan, and Mrs. Gilligan.

Major A. E. and Mrs. Conway, of Lyall Bay, Wellington, with their daughter Shirley and son Brian, arrived in Wanganui yesterday to spend a few days with Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Chisholm, Gonville. They will return home on Monday.

Miss Ngaio Marsh, the well-known New Zealand novelist, returned to the Dominion by the Rangitane after a year spent in England. Marsh, who has had six books published and is working on a new novel, made her headquarters in London whilst in England and travelled extensively through Belgium and Germany.

The Rev. C. F. Webster, senior curate at Melksham Parish Church, Wiltshire, will leave shortly for New Zealand to take charge of the parish of Mangaweka, states a London correspondent writing on March 19. Mr. Webster has spent four years at Melksham, with the exception of a few months when he acted as chaplain to the Bishop of Gibraltar. He was educated at Rugby and Trinity College, Cambridge, and took a second honours in law. He is 27 years of age and unmarried.
