General Situation.—Yesterday’s depression is moving off the Dominion and an anti-cyclone is moving from the South Tasman on to the southern portion of the South Island. Pressure is still relatively low to the north, however, and a fresh depression is moving on to south-eastern Australia.
Forecast—Winds: Southerly to south-easterly predominating, strong at times in parts of Cook Strait and on parts of the east coast of the North Island but mainly fight to moderate, backing gradually to the north-east and north. Seas (N.Z. waters): Rather rough generally with a considerable swell, especially on the east coast, but gradually moderating. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong south-east to easterly winds predominating, but turning gradually to north-east or north. Seas mainly rather rough. Weather: Mainly fair in the southern portion of the South Island but elsewhere cloudy to overcast and with scattered rains more especially in eastern districts. Temperatures cool but rising to-morrow.
