TOWN BOARD MEETING
The monthly meeting of the Town Board was held on Tuesday evening when the minutes of the previous meeting and of the special meeting was read and confirmed. The reports of the electrical engineer and surfaceman was received as satisfactory. A letter from the secretary of the committee for the memorial to pioneers at Mt. Stewart, forwarding copy of the minutes of the meeting held at Marton was received. Also a letter from the Under-Secretary of the Department of Internal Affairs forwarding a copy of the Municipal Corporations Amendment Bill, which will give affect to a number of remits passed at the recent municipal conference, asking the town board for any comments was received. The secretary of the Plunket Society sent a donation towards the upkeep of the ladies rest room. The town clerk was instructed to write thanking the society for their donation.
It was decided that the town clerk be granted an assistant as from the 4th. inst. Accounts amounting to £337 2s Id was passed for payment. PERSONAL Mr. and Mrs. S. Dickinson, senior, with Miss I. Dickinson, have returned from a holiday spent in the Auckland district. Mrs. Alex Bailey and Mrs. T. P. Wright have returned from Palmerston North. Miss Denshire, Christchurch, is spending a holiday with Mrs. H. N. Waymouth.
