NEW ZEALAND LAMB PRICES THE SMITHFIELD MARKET I Per Press Assoe.atloa. I WELLINGTON, April 15. With increasing consumption, prices for New Zealand lamb on the Home market have again advanced. The market is very firm. Wethers are quiet and the trade in ewes is slow. No frozen beef is available. Chilled beef is slightly firmer owing to more demand. New Zealand porker pigs are firmer but trade is rather slow. The market for New Zealand baconer pigs is steady and unchanged. The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board advises the following prices ruling at Smithfield, based on quantities sold on Wednesday. Chilled beef prices are the averages for the week. New Zealand Sheep. Crossbred wethers and/or maiden ewes, 57/641b, 'sd; ewes, 57/641b, 3 3-Bd. New Zealand Lambs.—Canterbury, 361 b and under, 7Jd; 37/421b 7 3-8 d; 43/50Ib 7 l-8d; second quality, average about 311 b, 71d; -other South Island brands, 361 b and under, 7id; '371 421 b, 7 3-8 d; 43/501b 7 l-8d; North Island Downs, 361 b and under 7 5-8 d; 43/501b 7 l-8d; second quality, average about 301 b, 7 3-8 d; North Island first quality, 361 b and under, 7 3-8 d; 37/421b 7id; second quality, average about 311 b, 7Jd.
