HUNTERVILLE
WELL-KNOWN SETTLER FAREWELLED. On the occasion of the Sports Club dance held recently at Pukeroa opportunity was taken to make a farewell presentation to Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Reynolds and family who, after residing in that district for the past 27 years, left to take up farming in the Te Kuiti district. Messrs. H. J. Tod, V. F. Houlmin and J. D. Lilburn expressed their appreciation of Mr. Reynold’s work in the district and also spoke of their regret at losing his services on the School Committee of which he had been a valued member. On behalf of the residents of the district Mr. Lilburn asked Mr., Reynolds to accept a canteen of cutlery for himself and his wife and presented engraved serviette rings to each of the children. Mr. Reynolds replied, thanking those present for their expressions and token of esteem. The assembly joined in the singing of “For they are Jolly Good Fellows” and dancing continued until the evening concluded with the singing of ‘Auld Lang Syne.”
GENERAL. Mr. Alex. Chisholm was the guest of a large number of members of the local club on Saturday night, who, in view of his marriage, which takes place next Saturday, presented him with a present in the shape of four handsome silver goblets. A stableford bogey match was played on the local links at the week-end and resulted in a tie between J. lllston and E. W. Donovan, who concluded with 35 points each.
The local eleven visited Taihape at the week-end to play a return match with the Railways team. Hunterville met defeat by 94 runs to 60, after having seven of the opposition wickets down for 14 runs.
