PIPE BAND CONTEST
DOMINION CHAMPIONSHIPS | PALMERSTON NOTH PAGEANT Easter brings to Palmerston North this year a pageant of colour nevei before witnessed. The Highland Pipe Bands' Dominion championship contest will be held there on Easter Saturday and Easter Monday, April 16 and 18, 1938. With entries exceeding those of contests for several years past, a bright and comprehensive programme is assued. The contest will commence on Easter Saturday afternoon, with a street march of all bands. This will be followed by the quickstep championship A grade bands. Then will come the drummajors’ display—the star attraction of all pipe band contests. To see these bands executing the many and varied military movements is the sight of a lifetime.
In the evening the A grade test selections will be held, interspersed with items of a true Scottish calibre, ana patrons will enjoy fine entertainment. The contest will continue on Easter Monday, when B grade bands from all parts of the Dominion will battle for championship honours.
