WRESTLING
BLOMFIELD v. JENSEN
NEW MAT SEASON
WAXGAM I NEXT TUESDAY The opening of the 1938 wrestling season at the Wanganui Opera House next Tuesday should be an outstanding success. The contestants are
“Lofty” Blomlield and Lee Jenser (recently imported from America) and the bout should be one of the
speediest ever held in Wanganui. Jensen, in his opening bout against Tonti, in Wellington, left no doubt in the minds of the public as to his wrestling ability, and as he has a name to make in this country he will be all out to down the formidable New Zealander. He recognises that New Zealand wrestling fans prefer to judge 'a man on his ability in New Zealand rather than his previous record.
“Lofty” Blomlield arrives back from America on Friday next, bringing back with him an outstanding record —52 matches without a loss.
Both men will be on their mettle and anxious to secure the verdict in what should be a particularly willing, scientific and spectacular contest. Plans open this morning at J. Goss and Son’s.
