WEDDINGS

SMITH—MONTGOMERIE A quiet but pretty wedding took place at the Methodist Church, Taihape, recently, when Edith Mary, second daughter of the late Mr and Mrs J. E. Montgomerie, of Johannesburg,

S.A., was married to Samuel Alan, youngest son of Mr and Mrs Sam i Smith, Omatane, Taihape. The bride, who was given away by her uncle, Mr A. Montgomerie, Wanganui, looked charming in her magnolia satin gown, designed on slimfitting lines, the skirt falling away from an accordion-pleated front panel to form a train. Worn over her face, before the ceremony, her veil of embroidered net (kindly lent by a friend), which was held in place with a coronet of lilies, fell to form a second train. Her bouquet of cream chrysanthemums and roses completed the bridal toilet.

Miss Sheila Montgomerie attended her sister as bridesmaid, and looked dainty in her gown of pale blue organdie, with a spray of flowers in her hair. She carried a bouquet of pale pink roses. The bridegroom's brother, Len, carried out the duties of best man.

A reception was afterwards held at Lclievre's tearooms, when friends from Taranaki, Napier, Wanganui and Waikato were present. The happy couple left later by car on theii honeymoon, the bride wearing a brown tailored suit, with hat, shoes and accessories to match. The number of cheques and useful wedding presents received testified to the popularity of the young couple.
