WOOL, SKINS AND HIDES
PALMERSTON NORTH SALE. Competition was keen at the sale of wool oddments, sheepskins, hides and tallow held at Palmerston North last Thursday by Abraham and Williams, Ltd. Values for skins, hides and tallow showed a slight decline.. Values for all grades of wool were on a par. There was a drop of id per lb. for sheepskins. Cow, ox hides and calf skins were id to 3-8 d a lb. down. Tallow showed a slight depreciation. The following is the range of values:—
Wool: Crossbred, BBd to 9id; fine hoggets, Bid to 9id; hoggets, 8d to B£d; dead, 7id to Bid; locks and pieces, 5d to 7id.
Sheepskins: Fine hoggets, 8d to Bid; hoggets, 7id to Bid; three-quar-ter-full-wools, 8d to Bid; quarter-half-wools, 7id to 8d; crossbred, damaged, 6d to 6id; lambs, 6id to 7id; pelts, 4d to 4id; salter shorts-quarter-wools, Is 9d to 2s 2d; salted quarter-half-wools, 2s 2d to 2s 4d. Hides: Ox heavy, 6id to 62d; ox medium, 6d, to 6id; ox light, 4 7-8 d to 51-8 d; cow heavy, 4ild to sd; cow medium, 4d to sd; cow light, 4id to sd; yearlings, 6d to 7 3-8 d; calf light, first, 8 3-8 d to 8d; calf, light, second, 8d to 8 3-8 d; calf, cut, 67-8 d to 7d.
Tallow: In drums, first, 14s to 15s in tins, first, 8s to 10s.
LONDON SHEEPSKIN SALES.
Dalgety and Co., Ltd., have received the following cable from their London office, dated April 7: —Sheepskins: Bales offered, 3557; 75 per cent. sold. Quotations: Merino: Three-quarter to full-woolled, 8d to Sid; quarter to half- woolled and short and shorn, not quoted. Crossbred: Three-quarter to full-wolled, fine, 7d to 92d; threequarter to full-woolled, medium and coarse, 6id to 8d; quarter to halfwoolled, fine, 6d to 72d; quarter to half-woolled, medium and coarse, 5d to 7d; short and shorn, 3id to sd. Lambs. 62d to Bid.
