ARMSTRONG MR C. PALMER BROWN MR WALTER H. SWANGER MR GEORGE H. TROTT MR H. C. (“DOUG”) VEITCH Nominations closed at 4 o’clock oil Thursday afternoon and the sealed envelopes were opened at a meeting of the party's executive last night. A J preferentiai ballot will be held in due course, at which financial members of the party will have a right to vote for the nominees in the order in which they prefer them. By that means a choice will be made from those going to the ballot cr-the nominee who is considered to have the best chance of winning the seat. Mr Armstrong Mr Armstrong is a barrister and solicitor, being a partner in the legal firm of Messrs Armstrong, Barton and Armstrong, Wanganui, and a son of Mr N. G. Armstrong, ex-Mayor of I the city. He was educated at the Wanganui Collegiate School and served articles with the Wellington legal firm of Messrs Treadwell and Sons. He took an interest in the formation of the National Party in Wellington and when he returned to Wanganui,to join his father’s office as junior partner he threw himself energetically into the organisation of the party here. Mr Brown Mr Brown is a barrister and solicitor, and a member of the legal firm of C. P. and C. S. Brown, Wanganui. After a brilliant career at Otago University, Mr Brown came to Wanganui and entered into partnership with Mr Cecil Wray. During his sojourn in Wanganui he has conducted a wide legal practice, has been a member of lhe Wanganui City Council, topping tlie poll of councillors on occasions. He has been Deputy-Mayor of the city and acted as Mayor during the absence of Mr Hope Gibbons in Europe. Has read widely in economics and in world affairs. Mr Swanger _ _Mr Swanger, ex-secretary of the Wanganui Education Board, is a man who, in his official capacity, came into contact with all sections of the community. Starting as office boy in the education office, he won his way by merit to the secretaryship of tile board. He is recognised as an authority on education administration. He has been closely associated -A with rowing, and tennis, being a life ' member of the Union Boat Club and was for years secretary to the Wanganui Lawn Tennis Association. He is also a good golfer. He has a large personal following in consequence of fifty-two years' residence in Wanganui. Mr Trott Mr Trott is a restaurant proprietor and has become well known to Wanganui as a member of the City Council and as president of the Wanganui Employers’ Association. He has been on the council for several years and is the present chairman of the Gas Committee. He has taken a leading part in matters of a civil nature and is a fluent speaker. Mr Veitch Mr \c4li7t is a son of the ex-mcm-bcr for Wanganui and inherits from his parents a distinct bair for politics. He found .scope for his acumen and sound knowledge of economics as . a teacher. He taught lirst in the pri- Ik mary schools and latterly has been on r the staff of lhe Wanganui Collegiate School.
