MEAT BORD'S REPORT [ Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, April 1. The lamb market at Smithfield was firmer, with prices in some grades slightly better. The consumption 13 excellent for the time of the year. On the mutton market wethers were steady on short stocks. Ewes are easier owing to poor demand. Frozen beef is firm on short spot stocks. . Chilled beef is again easier owing to heavy supplies. . New Zealand porker pigs are quiet and unchanged. New Zealand baconet pigs are steady and unchanged. The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board reports the following were the prices last Thursday, chilled beef being the average for the week;— New Zealand Sheep.—Ewes. 481 b. and under, 4 l-8d; 49 to 561 bs, 3 5-Bd, 65 to 721bs, 3»<t New Zealand Lambs.— Canteroury, 43 to 501bs, 7d; other South Island, 361bs and under, 7 id. North Isjana, Downs, 361bs and under, 7.d; North Island, first quality, 361bs and under Chilled Beef (weights all 145 to : 2101bs, unless otherwise stated).— New Zealand fores, 3 5-8 d; Australian crops, weights corresponding 3.d, Argentine hinds, 5 5-8 d; fores, 4 1-od, Uruguayan fores, 3 7-8(1.
