MAIL BAG OPENED I Per T-:e.«x Association , INVERCARGILL, March 29. The Invercargill police have for th? past few days been making inquiries concerning interference with a mall bag containing registered letter;- from workmen employed in the Holly ford Valley. It is estimated that the money stolen exceeded £lOO. The workmen had been paid on Wednesday evening and a large number of them had posted various amounts to their wives and dependents in time to catch the outward mail the next evening. The following morning the bag was picked up by the contractor and brought to Lumsden, where a slit in the bag was discovered by the acting-postmaster and reported to the police, who far are without a clue.
