WANGAMU STATE HOUSES
NINE HAVE BEEN BALLOTED FOR AN OFFICIAL OPENING BEING ARRANGED Nine of the State houses erected in the Jackson Street area, Wanganui have been handed over to the Department of Housing from the contractor and have been balloted for in Wellington. Arrangements are now being made for the successful tenants to move into their new quarters, time being allowed In which to give notice to present landlords in cases where such is needed. An official opening ceremony will be held when the tenants are ready for occupation. Details of what the department intends doing in that connection will be available in the near future.
OFFICIAL OPENING | LEFT TO MAYOR AND MR. COTTERILL "There will be an official opening of the settlement," stated Mr. J. B. Cotterill, M.P. for Wanganui, last night to the “Chronicle.” He added that the matter of arranging the opening had been left to the Mayor of Wanganui (Mr. W. J. Rogers) and himself. Mr. Cotterill added that the ceremony would most likely take place ion a Saturday, on some date in the jtear future convenient to the tenants with the approval of the one occupying the house, at which th,; opening would take place.
