_ Lecture Recital. Attention is drawn to the lecture recital, which will be given on Tues*day, March 29. at the Girls’ College t Hall, by Mrs Stansfield Prior, A.R.C.M. , Mrs Prior has given no less than , 12C0 lectures on musical appreciation at London County Council Library Institutes, and has also lectured for London University Extension. She is one of the few women who have received the honour of being elected a member of the Royal Philharmonic Society of London and is also president of the Society of Women Musicians. The Coconut Dance Club. The management of the above club have been very fortunate in securing a Kallu floodlight. This system of I lighting is something entirely new to Wanganui and judging by other centres should prove a great success. Billy Larkin and his swing aces have again been engaged, and items of interest will be presented by the George Allan School of Dancing. Coming-of Age Party. A most enjoyable evening was spent in McGruer’s Hall on Monday night last when the coming-of-age of Mi Basil Robins, of Aramoho, was celebrated. Among those present were: Mr and Mrs H. Popular Member Fare welled. A very pleasant function took place at the D.I.C. tea room on Thursday, when buyers of the various departments arranged a morning tea party for Miss A. Chapman, who leaves this week-end for a trip abroad. On behalf of the staff, the manager, Mr J. R. Keenan, made a presentation to Miss Chapman of a suitcase and useful accessories. Kitchen Afternoon. On Wednesday afternoon Mrs L. J. Mac Naught entertained a number of friends at a delightful afternoon at the Rendezvous, in honour of Miss Norah Mac Naught, whose marriage [akes place shortly. BONNY GLEN—MAKIRIKIRI A well-attended meeting of the Bonyy Glen-Makirikiri W.D.F.U. was held at the residence of Mrs. H. Gudopp last Wednesday. The meeting was opened by the president, Mrs. E. Gudopp, after which the Creed was said. A motion of sympathy was passed in honour of the late Mrs. McDougal. Apologies were received from Mesdame -Christie and Stewart and Miss Simpson. It was arranged to hold the next meeting, which will be the annual one, 1 at the residence of Miss Simpson on

April 13. The hostesses are to be Miss Simpson and Mesdames Simpson, Welsh, Watts and Stewart. When business had been concluded lhe Tutaenui Drama Club staged a very humorous play titled “0.H.M.5.,” which was enjoyed by all present. A dainty afternoon tea was then served and the meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem. Competition winners for the sponge sandwich were Mrs. Emmerson first and Mesdames G. Wilhelm and B.
