Meteorological Office, Wellington, Friday, March 18, 3 p.m. General Situation.—The ♦recent anti-cyclone is moving away eastward and a very slight low pressure disturbance is now crossing the Dominion. Pressure remains rather low, however, over the Tasman Sea. Forecast.—Winds variable at first over the South Island with southerlies in places but northerlies to north-westerlies generally predominating and later again freshening. Seas (New Zealand waters): Mainly slight to moderate but rather rough to rough about Cook and Foveaux Straits at times. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong northerly winds prevailing with moderate to rather rough seas. Weather: Changeable and with rain at times in most districts, scattered and for the most part light in eastern districts but heavier and more general in western districts from Taranaki southwards.
