SANDON

AUTUMN FLOWER SHOW. Good entries were received for the Sanson Women’s Institute Autumn Flower Show, although the flower section was not up to former years’ standard due no doubt to the very dry spell experienced throughout the district. Mrs. W. E. Pearce secured the points prize in this section, displaying some very fine blooms. Excellent entries were received in the vegetable section, the points prize for this section also being won by Mrs. W. E. Pearce. Some splendid work was on display in the decorative and fancy work sections, Mrs. Masters and Miss Matthews securing the prizes for most points gained. The cooking class was another well supported class, Mrs. J. C. Fagan securing the honours here. A new class this year, 'Novice,' attracted a good number of entries. Competitions and dancing were held in the evening, and a play entitled "No Servants,” presented by institute members, was well received. Those taking part were "Victoria,” Miss Jean Butler; “Mrs. Sparrow," Miss M. Murphy; “Maud,” Miss D. Scandlyn; “Harris," Miss D. Flyger; “Agnes," Miss G. Adams; "Francis Mayfield,' Miss M. Butler. Miss D. Flyger also presented two elocutionary items "Visiting a Sick Person" and “After the Marriage" which were listened to by an appreciative audience.
