FURTHER PROGRESS

WANGANUI A. AND P. SHOW WORTH-WHILE INSTITUTION For over 63 years the Wanganui A. ind P. Association has held its annual show without a breA. Throughout this long period ol time the show has been an integral part of the community life of the city and district. From small beginnings it has moved upwards and forwards until —despite a period when the depression affected its activities adversely—it is now one of the best agricultural and pastoral shows in the Dominion. This is almost solely due to the loyal band of workers who, throughout the long period of the association’s career, have stood by it and worked so hard to achieve success. To-day the executive committee —in whose keeping the affairs ot the association are entrusted —ate endeavouring to improve upon the high standard reached in the past few years, and are working with unprecedented enthusiasm in an endeavour to enlarge the scope of the annual show, so that it will eventually be the most important show in the North Island. It cannot be gainsaid that one of the potent factors in agricultural progress in this district has been the A. and P. Association. By its annaul , shows it has done much towards the improvement of live stock and has, greatly forwarded the introduction of | new implements. This work is as important to-day as it ever was. and the fact that the A. and P. Association is devising ways and means of extending the scope of its work is deserving ol the highest commendation. The executive committee has recently appealed to the residents of town and country to identify themselves with this forward movement by becoming members of the association, and we commend the appeal to those citizens who appreciate the work being performed by this energetic association. Membership costs only one pound per annum, an amount which does not cover the cost of the privileges it gives on show days, but if a sufficient number of new members join, the association will have a settled income which will enable it to carry to fruition its plans to improve the annual | show. Any person who desires to join. is invited to ring the organising sec-1 rotary (’phons 5491), who will for-' v ard enrolment forms to any address.
