INVASION BY BABOONS

HERD BOYS SEE STOCK DEVOURED DURBAN, Jan. 20. Troops of starving baboons, driven from the hills by the drought which gripped the Weenen district, Natal, raided farms and killed goats for food. When a troop comes upon a herd of goats the baboons surround it, rush in and make a capture. They then tear the victim to pieces and devour it. The herd boys are terrified and unable to deal with the attackers.
