DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB WEEKLY COMPETITION HELD The Wanganui Defence Rifle Club fired their weekly competition at Putiki on Saturday for the club pairs and trophies donated by P. C. Hamilton and W. Johnstone. It was a day out for the Jones family, W. Jones taking the Johnstone Trophy and T. Jones the Hamilton Trophy. The weather was fine with a light breeze from the right which needed watching. Some very good scores were put on, W. Jones, M. Jones and A. Doidge securing the possible at 500 yards, while E. Farley put on 101 off the rifle. The last named is shooting exceedingly well lately and thoroughly deserves his inclusion in the New Zealand team for Australia next year. The next club competition will be held at Aramoho on January 8 for the club championship. Fifteen members have entered lor the North Island championship at Putiki on Boxing Day.
