WANGANUI CENTRE FULL-RINK COMPETITIONS SATURDAY^ - RESULTS After a week of unsettled weather bowlers were fortunate in striking excellent conditions for Saturday's games. Club rink competitions were again played. ST. JOHN’S CLUB The St. John's Club full-rink competition was advanced another round on Saturday, when the following games were played— Colmer, F. i WANGANUI EAST CLUB On Saturday Wanganui East Club members enjoyed a tine afternoon for club full-rink play. Owing to rain during the week the green was slightly on the heavy side. During the tea adjournment the president, Mr. A. W. Jones, expressed his personal good wishes to the memi bers for a bright and happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year. Mr. Jones said he trusted that the good friendship that had existed among members in the past would continue during the New Year now close at hand. GONVILLE CLUB Although the Gonville Club’s green was rather heavy at the commencement of play on Saturday, conditions improved during the afternoon. There was a fair gathering of players. During the afternoon tea adjournment, Air W. Healey, vice-president, expressed the hope of the club that the president, Mr Chenery, and also Mr F. Webb Jones, would both soon be restored to the full measure of health and strength. Kindly expressions and tendered to Mr A. B. Christensen that his wife would soon be on the road to recovery. Opportunity was also taken 1c make Mrs Chenery a small presentation in appreciation of her work for the club in connection with the afternoon tea arrangements every Saturday. The touring British bowlers played a four-rink game yesterday on the Kaituma green against rinks selected from the executive of the Dunedin Bowling Centre. Conditions were ideal, the local players winning by 88 points to 73. Another game will be played to-morrow.
