WIN FOR GAY CIRCLE Received Dec. 19, 7.5 p.m. MELBOURNE, Dec. 19. Races were held yesterday at Williamstown. Results:— Three-year-old Handicap.—Barham 8.5 (Wilson) 1, Gay Heiress 7.12 (Dewhurst) 2, Elmdale 8.3 (Skidmore) 3. Eleven started, including Silver Bond. Three and a-half lengths; half a head. Time. 1.26. Welter Handicap.—Palatinate 8.12 (Dewhurst) 1, Lord Jevington 7.11 (Skidmore) 2. Barapic 7.13 (Martin) 3. Also: Epigram and The Grape. Lord Jevington passed the post first by a head, but a protest was upheld and Palatinate was declared the winner. Barapic was two lengths away third. Time, 1.43*. Fund Handicap.—Gay Circle 8.3 (Wilson) 1. Dunloe 8.5 (Martin) 2, .Lilirene 7.4 (Williamson) 3. Twelve started, including Royal Quex. Radiant Star and Custos were unplaced in the Flying Welter Handicap.
