Brittle Prattie 8.8, Arabia 8.2, Jocular 8.1, Klemeagle 8.1, Duke Caledon 8.0. Bobby '7.10, Sidcup 7.10, Lord Bine 7.10, Friar’s Switch 7.9, Might Not 7.5, Cooranga 7.2, Tucker Box 7.2, Silk Felt 6.12. Might Not made the early running but Valbeau took charge passing the half-mile, followed by Might Not, Jocular and Lord Bine. Vaibeau was still leading with a furlong to go, but Ramdin finished best and beat him by one and a-quarter lengths. Sal Volatile was a length away, third. Silver Standard, having his first race since November was always in the bunch, but finished last. The time, 1.351, is equal to the Australasian record. Kowtow, Lion Hunt, Bronze Tulip and Fantan were unplaced in the First Division of the Novice Handicap. ilissus was unplaced in the Second Division of the Novice Handicap.
