LIQUOR LAWS AT INVERCARGILL MAGISTRATE’S COMMENT [ Per Press Association. 1 INVERCARGILL, Dec. 17. “The no licence business seems to me to be a farce so far as Invercargill is concerned,” said Mr. W. H. Freeman, S.M., during the hearing of a case to-day in which a man was charged with soling beer in the no licence district of Invercargill. “It seems to me the only way to overcome the difficulty is for the legislators to take it up. They can’t expect the police or Courts to deal with the situation when a considerable portion of the population is engaged in the illicit sale of beer or carrying it, or getting a rake off somewhere.” Michael Daniel Hughes pleaded guilty to two charges of selling beer in the no licence district of Invercargill and was fined £7 10s on each charge. In s second case Cyril Neville Fairweather pleaded guil’.y to two charges of sell’ng beer in the no licence district of Invercargill and was fined £lO on each charge:
