VISIT TO NEW ZEALAND [ Per I’.e-.s Association. 1 WELLINGTON, Dec. 17. On about a ten weeks’ visit to Nd Zealand, Sir Richard and Lady Ran kine arrived yesterday by the Rang! tane. Lady Rankine was formcrl Miss Dalziell, of Hayton, Oamari and she was married to Sir Richaii Rankine in the Dominion. They well met by Sir Charles Statham. Sir I Rankine entered the Colonial Sei vice at Fiji in 1894, and was Prival Secretary to successive Governor He became Assistant Colonial Secr< tary for Fiji, Receiver-General an Commissioner of Stamps. He went 1 India as a personal secretary of th Governor on a special mission on th question of the immigration of 111 dians to Fiji. That was in 1919, ad the following year he was appoints Chief Secretary of Nyasaland, Africi and several times acted as Governol Later he was posted in Uganda a Acting-Governor in 1928 and latter!) till his recent retirement, he wj British Resident at Zanzibar.
