BOROUGH WATER As the result of the opening-up at 470 feet of the new well that was recently sunk in York Street, an excellent flow of water has been obtained. The old well has been cleared and is flowing freely, the two wells giving sufficient supply for many years to come. KAKARAMEA SCHOOL PRIZE-GIVING An excellent programme was rendered by the school children at Kakaramea on Thursday evening, when the annual break-up ceremony was held. Mr. J. Kerrisk presided. In the course of an address to the parents and children when presenting the prizes, Mr. E. F. Hemingway, chairman of the Wanganui Education Board, stressed the necessity of peace in these troublous times and urged the children to be unselfish. He thanked the committee for their splendid work for the children and wished them success in the coming year. Miss Thompson was presented with a bouquet and buttonholes were presented to Mr. Baker and Mr. Hemingway. Calf-rearing prizes presented were: Dairy Type.—Mary Chamberlain 1. J. Kerrisk 2.
