STRATFORD RACING CLUB

NEW YEAR MEETING AN ATTRACTIVE PROGRAMME The summer meeting of the Stratford Racing Club will be held at Te Kapua Park, Stratford, on January 1 and 3, 1938. The total stakes offered are £3240, including a handsonu gold cup valued at £5O. The Stratford Cup, to be competed for on the lirst day, carries a stake of £5OO. In addition a well-wisher of the club has donated a gold-mounted riding whip, to go to the rider of the winner, while the trainer will receive a chronometer. The programme is very well balanced. It provides for the maiden performer, the open sprinter, the Juvenile, the hurdler, the distance horse and the hack sprinter. Whilst the winner is adequately rewarded, no race being worth less than £lOO to the winner, the second and third horse is not overlooked as the third prize money varies from £lO to £5O. The Stratford Hack Handicap of £225 run over 9 furlongs on the second day carries a trophy valued at £25. The committee of the club has decided to grant free stalling accommodation at the club’s stables for horses competing at the meeting. Nominations for all events close with the secretary, Box 65, Stratford, at 9 D.m.. on Monday December 13.
